Trump’s special advisor handpicked Paul Ingrassia withdraws his nomination after ‘Nazi script’ text scandal.

President Trump’s pick to head the federal agency charged with protecting whistleblowers withdrew his nomination on Tuesday amid reports he bragged about a “Nazi font” in a series of disturbing text messages.

Paul Ingrassia, who was expected to testify before a Senate committee later this week about his nomination to lead the office of special counsel, revealed in a social media post that he does not have enough support to be confirmed for the position.

“I will be withdrawing from the (Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee) hearing on Thursday to lead the Office of Special Counsel because unfortunately I do not have enough Republican votes at this time,” Ingrassia wrote on X.

“I appreciate the overwhelming support I have received throughout this process and will continue to serve President Trump and this administration to Make America Great Again!” He added.

Ingrassia, 30, faced growing calls to withdraw his candidacy after Politico published a report this week on leaked text messages he sent to about a half-dozen of his Republican colleagues last year.

“I have a Nazi streak in me from time to time, I’ll admit it,” Ingrassia allegedly wrote in one message sent in May 2024.
