Two Nets rookies have been plagued by injuries early in the rebuilding season

Nets fans were looking forward to seeing their record five rookies taken in the first round. But after just one game, they have already lost two games heading into Friday’s home opener thanks to a pair of ankle sprains.

Drake Powell (sprained right ankle) and Danny Wolf (sprained left ankle) will miss the game against the Cavaliers, as will veteran Haywood Highsmith (surgery on right knee).

Wolfe suffered his wound during a shootout Wednesday morning and is missing Season-opening loss at Charlotte.

He walked without shoes or with a limp before and after, and wore only a light wrap.

Powell sprained his ankle in the fourth quarter of that defeat, stepped on an opponent’s foot and drew a foul, limping off the court with 4:38 left.

Ben Saraf was the only man from the rookie class on the team to start, and he got the nod at point guard.

He finished with eight points, seven rebounds and four assists in 20 turnover-free minutes. The Israeli became the second-youngest starter in team history at just 19 years and 191 days, but he only hit 2 of 7 goals and missed all of his attempts from deep, rejecting a few open looks.

Igor Demin backed up Saraf after he missed most of training camp and the season with a torn plantar fascia.

He had 14 points on 4-of-6 from deep — a Nets debutant rookie record — five boards, two assists and a steal. The Russian has yet to show that he can beat defenders and get touches in the paint.

“I’m getting better,” DeMaine said. “I’m getting stronger, I feel better when I play against athletes like this, I feel more confident. More than defending. And obviously there’s a lot of room to work on things like playing against pressure, not losing the ball, controlling the team, trying to organize the team better and trying to be a leader. But we’re on the right path.”

This was only the fourth time in Nets’ NBA history that four rookies made their debuts in the same game, and the first since November 2, 1990 (Derek Coleman, Tate George, Judd Buechler and Cork Lee).

He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 10 in Brooklyn.
