Two teenagers were killed and 3 others were injured in a collision in the city of Chisago

Authorities continue to investigate a head-on collision over the weekend that killed two teens and injured three others in Chisago.
It happened around 2 a.m. Saturday near the corner of Stacy Trail and Ivywood Trail. Officers responding to an automated notification of a cellphone accident discovered that two vehicles had collided head-on.
The Lakes Region Police Department said a car driven by a 14-year-old boy — with two passengers, both 15-year-old boys — collided with an SUV driven by a 17-year-old boy, with an 18-year-old passenger.
One of the passengers in the car, in addition to the driver of the four-wheel drive vehicle, died from their injuries. The other three teens involved were taken to hospitals.
In a press releaseThe police department said “alcohol was present at the scene and may have been a factor in the accident” — but did not provide further details.
The Minnesota State Patrol’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting local authorities with the investigation.
Authorities have not officially announced the names of the teens who died. But the Chisago Lakes Hockey Association of A.J Post on social media Police identified the 15-year-old who died as one of the hockey players, Jax Affolter.
“Jax was a much-loved son, brother, friend and teammate,” the hockey league posted. She asked people in the local hockey community — and beyond — to “put out their sticks and leave the light on” in his memory.
