Tyra Banks talks hot ice cream and feels fierce at 51 on the cover of King Kong
It offers a double scoop.
Tyra Banks embraces her love of ice cream — and her age — in a fun new photoshoot for King Kong Magazine Issue 20.
The 51-year-old model and businesswoman appears on the cover wearing pink sunglasses and a soft serve-inspired bustier.
The surreal ice cream topper is a “custom digital look” by Brand greetingwhich describes itself as “a fashion brand that creates physical clothing and digital skins under the belief that the future of fashion will span multiple realities.”
Inside the magazine, Banks continues her homage to all things candy, posing in an ice cream cone dress and sky-high pink sandals with a voluminous blonde wig and turquoise eye shadow.
She is also shown riding a toy car bearing the license plate “SMIZE,” a tribute to the former “America’s Next Top Model” host, which means “smile with eyes.”
In a chat with nightlife veteran Amanda Lepore, Banks spoke about feeling more confident than ever in her modeling career.
“I’m fierce, in my 50s, and I’m pretending better than I ever have in my life,” Lepore said. “Years of modeling, teaching, knowing my body and my angles – have made me a master. This, instantly, looks and feels fiercer than ever.”
The shoot comes as Banks continues to expand her business Smize & Dream Ice Cream EmpireWhich opened in Australia earlier this year. The ice cream-obsessed model recently launched a limited-time ‘hot ice cream’ product that has left fans scratching their heads.
Banks posted about the unusual menu item on Instagram, explaining that she took the company’s very popular Fairy Dough Diva ice cream flavor and gave it a “hot makeover.” The result? Fairy Dough Diva Hot Mama, which she describes as “silky, soft and somewhat warm” – but “not melty ice cream”.
During her conversation with Lepore, Banks’ interest in ice cream flavors escalated, and she even designed a custom flavor for the New York City icon: “Almonda Amanda Swirl—smoked almond ice cream because you’re smoking hot, with a blonde buttercream swirl running through it to celebrate your golden locks.”
She also reflected on her Smize & Dream flavor, Tyra’s favorite flavor, and wondered why her image wasn’t represented better.
“I’m kind of known for my chest lines — and what even is that in ice cream? Chestnuts? Double-scoop marshmallows?” I thought. “I have serious work to do on my Flavor and I need to stop this interview now and get back to my Flavor Studio.”
Filming King Kong also saw Banks teasing the project that fans have been asking for for decades: Eve doll from her 2000 film “Life Size”.
“Honey, if I had a dollar for every time someone asked me about that doll… maybe I could finance the entire Eves factory,” Lepore said.
“Never say never. You might wake up one day, turn on your phone, and boom… Eve is in your virtual shopping cart. Dreams have a funny way of creeping into reality.”
